To whom it may concern:

Fear is the "great conqueror" in many of our lives. The following is a open letter to all of the people who are allowing Devra West to intimidate, coerce, hold you "financially" hostage or make you fear for your actual life. The time has come to stand up and be counted! She will only be successful if you continue to remain silent!

Who am I, you ask? My name is Tanya Hurley and I was employed as Devra West's Personal Assistant from 2002-2003. I am a Bitterroot Valley native who went to school in Darby, MT and lived, worked and raised my children in Hamilton, MT. I worked for a local physician for a number of years and then went to work for a freight brokerage firm in Hamilton when the Dr. retired. After the brokerage firm went out of business, I answered an add in the Ravalli Republic that stated "busy professional woman seeks a P. A.". I wasn't sure in the beginning of my employment at "Divine Unity" located at Fred Burr Rd. Victor MT what type of business or religious org. she was affiliated with.

It became clear within the first couple of weeks of my employment, that I had unwittingly gotten myself involved in something that I had never experienced before or will ever subject myself to again. The pay however was $10 per hr. of which was quickly raised to $12 per hour within a month of my hiring. This was good money for the Bitterroot Valley. In addition to the wages I was told that I would be provided with full medical benefits within 3 months of employment. You know the old saying, "when something looks to good to be true, it usually is". Suffice it to say I learned that lesson the hard way as is the case of most of the lessons we learn in life.

I worked for Mrs. West for just shy of 1 year and on the final day of my employment, I was called in early to get Mrs. West ready and out the door, which in every case of an impending trip was nothing less than pure torture for all of the staff and her "students". She would rage, rant, scream, yell, sometimes growl, point out all of our (in her opinion) shortcomings. This particular morning was no different than the past. My health had been deteriorating for several months prior to this morning. The body can only take so much before it gives you a wake up call. Mrs. West was fully aware of my declining health and her explanation to me was that my fiance' was the cause of my health issues because I was in what she called a "victim frenzy" and that he was sucking the life out of me. I am still with this man and couldn't be happier.

Long story short, I walked out after she left that morning and never went back. I was harassed for weeks afterwards with phone calls, letters, certified letters and even visits to my home. Mrs. West told everyone that I had left for health reasons. After my departure there was a deluge of employees and students, or as Devra calls them, "Spiritual Zombies" abandoning ship so to speak.

In closing, It would be my opinion that Deborah West, AKA Devra West, AKA Devraji, AKA, reincarnation of General Patton (her words, not mine), AKA Surya Ma ect...is a mentally unstable woman, at least I hope this is the case because the alternative, (that she knows exactly what she is doing) would be horrifying don't you think?
