Hello, my name is John Watson and I am putting up this and other web sites a warning to those who might be thinking of getting involved with Ms Devra West AKA Surya Ma, Devraji, Devra Daheala West etc etc!  Ms West is a wolf in sheep's clothing.  Hidden behind the images you see on her web sites behind the cozy staged photo opportunities and the dubious testimonials is an egomaniac that preys on the weak and 'spiritually' confused.

People get sucked in by the propaganda and all too late, after they have sold up and moved to be with their new guru, do they realize that they have unwittingly joined a cult whose leader is bent on separating them from their money!  I know this first hand because I worked for Ms West for six months back in 2002 as her business manager before resigning in disgust at her financial impropriety.  The charity she headed was subsequently 'struck off' by the Montana state government and the property the charity owned, which was paid for by donations, was subsequently transferred into Ms West's own personal trust fund!

My lawyer tells me that the truth is an absolute defense against defamation so lets throw out a few undisputed facts.

1.  There are currently at least two law suits in process against Ms West, one of them is mine.  After resigning I issued a writ against West for breach of contract.  She has tried to withhold damaging evidence for this case getting to the court and even persuaded some of her students and employees to give false witness against me. Fortunately however most have since withdrawn their statements and admitted that they were made under duress. 

None of that really mattered because during a visit to my property in March 2003, during which the discussion between us were recorded for my safety, West admitted that she breached the contract and admitted much more! See the Downloads page.  This case goes to court in February 2007.   

2.  There is another law suit against West this one for defaulting on a $200,000+ loan guarantee made by one of her students.

3.  Ms West was previously made bankrupt; I understand that before she ascended to self proclaimed god status she had a jewelry business that went belly up!

4.  Ms West touts her credentials but the PhD & the D.D. she awarded to her self from her own 'school!'  I believe her 'official' education stopped at high school diploma!

5.  I have statement from an ex board member of the charity that was struck off, 'The Circle of Divine Unity' in which the board member alleges that Ms West diverted approximately $80,000 away from the charity to her son who was, at the time, fighting for custody of his daughter.

6.  I have a statement from a student who alleges that another student, Marion Cantwell, was physically abused by Ms West and bullied into parting with a large portion of the sale proceeds of her house.

7.  I have a statement from the same person who alleges that he was duped into lending West $30,000 on the basis that it would be repaid two weeks later.  Two years later he is still waiting!

8.  Ms West always seems to live in some opulence, when I was there she had servants and a cook.  Under cross examination from my lawyer she acknowlegeded receiving millions in the two or three year period up to 2002 but could not remember what if any money went to charity.

9.  There has, in the past, been a huge turnover in employees at Ms West's charities because upon starting their employment most are pressed ganged into joining the cult.

10.  There is an ongoing IRS investigation into Ms West's finacial affairs.  When you see some of the information I have gathered from some of her ex employees you'll understand why!

During the six months I was associated with Ms West I got a 'behind the scenes' look at her. Behind the designer clothes, the smile and the well practiced 'royal wave' lies a lonely person that eats with her mouth open, spraying food all over the place, and swears like a trooper.  Believe it or not she is so afraid of the dark that she sleeps with a light on at night!

Now I expect you are wondering at this stage why people put up with this crap?  Well the reason that Ms West has been so successful in the past is down to the way that 'cults' work.  You see Ms West puts on a good show and can do a few cheap parlor tricks that do impress the spiritually confused seekers that flock to her door!  There is a steady stream of wannabees who, after several weeks of 'conditioning,' become fully paid up members of the cult.   At that point they prepared to do her bidding even if that means lying, alienating themselves from friends and families or sitting silently as West brutalizes one of their fellow 'students.'  She does this regularly (I have witnessed this personally) it's all part of the conditioning!

People do leave and if they are unimportant and disappear they may be left alone but if they pit them selves against West or had got close enough to share in some of her secrets then woe betide them!  The reason West has made so many enemies but is rarely called to account is because once you are ejected from the cult you are isolated from those who remain inside.  If you become difficult, as some do after they have been separated from their money, West employs various forms of intimidation mixed with shamanic arts to try to persuade you to back off but she has no power - unless you decide to give it to her!

West nearly always gets her lackey's to do her bidding that way she can throw her hands up and say she is not to blame.  The other approach is to have one of her lackey's call in the middle of the night to 'generate'  a reaction then pretend that she is the victim (of the reaction).  A couple of years ago West persuaded three of her 'students' to put a web site up to 'rubbish' me and the fools made statements that were totally inaccurate.  One quickly disassociated herself from the site the other two are now facing writs for defamation,  But the question is this, why would three strangers do something like that and risk all unless they were brainwashed into it?  West on the other hand sits in the background playing some big game of chess and wondering which of her pawns to sacrifice next!

This woman has watched too many 'B' grade movies to be taken too seriously but occasionally some people do get hurt.  Take the case of Dianne Stoner she lasted as West's secretary for three months only and upon leaving gave me some assistance with my legal case.  Some time later she fell and was paralyzed down one side and had to learn to walk again.  Another case, a friend of ours, who undoubtedly came under the grouping of those who got too close, left Ms West's employ and died some months later,  She was in her mid forties and left behind two young daughters!

The good news is that as West fails to live up to the public image she is desperately trying to cultivate and as more of the nasty 'under belly' is revealed more of her inner circle leave like rats from a sinking ship.  At the time of writing I think there are only one or two left.

On the 'DOWNLOADS' page is an audio version of one of her recent pathetic attempts to intimidate me. In this case West or one of her lackey's phoned me at 3.30am (the witching hour?) from a cell which had a recorded message on it.  The message was a mixture of music, and let's call it, a nasty audio virus/energy!  I did not answer the phone at 3.30am but noticed the call the following morning.  Out of curiosity I called the number in Montana (near where West operates from) and listened to part of the message and once I realized what was going on hung up.  Get a life woman!

The same approach was used on a friend of mine who West thinks is helping me.  These are just some of the tactics used by West and her cohorts to try to intimidate those who stand up to her!  Of course it only works if you buy into it, basically the woman is a pathetic bully with no real power but who has some serious issues that need looking into.
